The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas Health Science at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center - McGovern Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek an accomplished candidate with a dynamic research program focused on molecular mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis and fungal biology.

Applicants should have a track record of innovative research in fungal pathogenesis and the capability to develop an independently-funded research program, as well as the desire to contribute to the department’s educational mission. Department faculty occupy modern laboratory space, including BSL-3 facilities, and have access to state-of-the-art core facilities. Qualifications include:

(1) an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree; (2) a track record and/or strong promise of obtaining peer-reviewed external funding and publications; (3) commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students; (4) excellent written and oral communication skills; and (5) a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for collaborative science.
