Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Postions

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. We seek individuals or collaborative research teams with expertise in immunology and/or microbial pathogenesis. Successful candidates must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or DVM/PhD degree and have a strong record of research productivity. Individuals holding the rank of associate or full professor must have active support.

The department has research programs focused on autoimmune disease and on host-pathogen interactions of both facultative and obligate intracellular, select agent bacterial pathogens. In addition to renovated laboratory space in the Medical Sciences Building, the department includes a new BSL2/BSL3/ABSL3 laboratory building, the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (LID). The LID facility, which was opened February 2015, provides contiguous office, meeting, and dedicated lab space incorporating state-of-the-art biosafety and biosecurity features. Interdisciplinary interactions with basic, translational, and clinical investigators in the College of Medicine, the Center for Lung Biology, and the Mitchell Cancer Institute are encouraged.
