Faculty Positions in Host-Pathogen Interactions

We are seeking outstanding candidates for TENURE-TRACK faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels in the Department of Microbiology and Immunologyat University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine in Chicago. This recruitment initiative is part of a departmental effort, under the leadership of a new Head (Dr. Susan Ross), to selectively expand research activities and enhance interdisciplinary collaborations. Ideal applicants will be creative and collaborative scientists pursuing fundamental/translational aspects of bacterial or viral pathogenesis and host response to infection and using state-of-the-art approaches that combine genomics, cell biology, genetics, bioinformatics, biochemistry, and animal models of infection. We especially encourage applicants with innovative new perspectives and research interests that embrace interdisciplinary approaches. UIC offers an intellectually exciting, collegial, and supportive environment with robust graduate, MSTP, and post-doctoral programs and extensive opportunities for interdepartmental collaboration. Resources include outstanding core facilities for DNA/RNA sequencing and genomics, imaging, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, structural analyses, and automated screening. Requirements include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline, postdoctoral training and a strong publication record. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
