Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, invites applications for a faculty position within the Department of Immunology and Microbiology. This faculty position will follow what Rush has termed a New Generation of Basic Science Medical School Teachers. The role of this position is focused on responsibilities of teacher and administrator. Rush Medical College is engaged in its teaching activities and has heightened its expectations of educators, requiring superior skills and accountability. This new kind of basic science teacher has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the educational experience and opportunities at Rush Medical College.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of experience in health professions teaching and leadership. Requirements include PhD or MD/PhD (or equivalent) and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor Level, commensurate with their experience and accomplishments in Rush Medical College. The successful candidate will effectively communicate and engage with students in large groups, small groups, and individually. Ideal candidates will collaborate with faculty from various departments within Rush Medical College. Candidates must have high standards of integrity, trust, and ethics with a commitment to academic excellence.

Rush Medical College was established in 1837 and is one of the oldest medical colleges in the U.S. Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) is one of the largest private academic medical centers in Illinois. Rush is a thriving center for basic and clinical research, boasting state-of-the-art facilities with over 1,600 on-going research projects. RUMC has completed the most comprehensive construction and renovation program in its history. The “Rush Transformation” process has invested in new technology and facilities, culminating in a new Tower hospital that opened in January 2012, uniquely designed to deliver patient care safely and efficiently.
